Quick Start: Get Your First Content Live
Setting up
To start, add the domain of your site and select the market country you want to target. ContentGen.io will generate a default name for you, but you can adjust it as you like. Following this, you can add your sitemap by providing the sitemap URL to let ContentGen.io find your pages.
Add your first prompt
A prompt tells ContentGen.io what type of content to create.
- Under 'Settings' > 'Prompts', click 'Add a Prompt'.
- Name your prompt (e.g. 100 word H1 category blurb).
- Write your instructions.
đź’ˇ Try this starter prompt:
Write a [word count]-word [type of content] in [English variant] about [topic/page] for [placement/purpose]. Use [data source, e.g. product listings] for facts and [keyword source] naturally in the copy.
Tone: [e.g. friendly, persuasive, professional].
Formatting: [e.g. short paragraphs, bullet points].
Avoid [e.g. clichés, dates, em dashes].

Preview and generate content
Under the 'Pages' tab, select your prompt and apply it to your pages. Before committing credits to generate content at scale, you can preview content on an individual page by selecting the prompt you’d like to test and any necessary recipes, and clicking Preview. This will show you a draft of the content based on your instructions, allowing you to refine the prompt before generating for multiple pages.
To generate content, select your recipe, your prompt and your pages and click generate. All generated content can be found in the 'Content' tab.

Get content live
Once you’re happy with the output, you can approve the content. Approved content is queued for publishing and can be published live to your site via integration. This ensures that only reviewed and approved text is published. If you prefer, you can also export the approved copy for manual publishing through your CMS.
